What's in a name
Thank you to all of you that read our first blog post! It means a lot to us to have your interest and support.
After reading about us you may have wondered how we came up with the name, JPart.
For those of you who know Jim outside of his artwork you know that he is creative, quick-witted and loves to laugh. Jim’s day job as a Labor and Employment lawyer includes many speaking engagements. He loves an audience, but admits that his topics can be boring, confusing and ever-changing. To keep his audience entertained he uses humor.
While I also love to laugh, I focus more on the details. How’s the lighting, the temperature, the seating, the decor, the food and drink? I want to make sure that people feel comfortable and welcome. You could say that I’m more of a “behind the scenes” person. Given that, I had the task of coming up with the name.
I wanted something that would stand out as a logo but also be easy to remember. I decided to start with Jim’s initials, JPR. I kept repeating them in my mind. It was kind of like when you are behind a car with a vanity plate and you find yourself trying to figure it out. You start sounding it out--J, P, R , J, P, Rt, aha, JPart! That’s it! So where are my initials you might ask. Like I said, I’m a “behind the scenes” person!
